This slim book is full of stories that occasionally trend toward the fantastical or the overly sentimental, but all are full of what I can onl I have a definite soft spot for short stories. Hrbek seems to forget thatā€”above allā€”readers want storyline in their stories. Despite odd creatures and curiosities, the reader must find deeper meanings and locate the monsters to confront who or what they are exactly. Some of them are stuffed full of the sort of luxurious prose that would be too obfuscating to use for more than a dozen pages.
