But, it's not too hard to figure it out yourself.

If you need help with the checkout form or payment, please don't hestitate to contact us via e-mail. I am having a little bit of trouble figuring out 50s wiring with 2 volumes and 1 tone.
Don't feel bad if I hurt myself. And the other thing is, the cap, is soldered from the center lug of the tone pot to where in the regular switch? Removing the grounds from the non-master vol controls will ensure no tone loss but will also mean that you can't turn either pickup all the way off when in the middle position. Again Fred, thanks so much for taking some time to help me with this, Arturo Switch: we may be confusing our words here, and different manufacturers may build them slightly differently. I'm probably missing something really obvious, but i just cant seem to sus it out. Not enough coffee yet for my brain to assist, just wanted to throw this out to add tothe confusion. Again, I maybe off here. Anyone point me out to, or sketch me, an appropriate wiring diagram? The other two lugs are usually along the centerline of the switch.
All our prewired kits have matched pots and caps. I'm sure they're fine, but eh. My understanding of the 50s wiring is that the tone control is wired from the output of the volume control rather than straight off the hot wire of the pickup. It is possible that going with the 50s and independent volumes may have also compounded the effect. I did a Tele Custom a while ago 2 vol. But again there was a volume drop on the tone control when the volume was down low. © 2006-2015 All rights reserved.
Our capacitors are so close to the originals of the 50's that nobody will hear a difference. Thanks again every body for your input. Just use any wire that will reach the distance you need. I'm not familiar with Stew-Mac's wiring color convention, but you will be tying soldering together two of the leads, insulating them, and getting them out of the way. Just complete the guitar wiring diagram order form with your custom specifications and our designers will do the rest.
In my description above, you 'll want to unwind the bare shield from around the other four leads, then connect it to your ground lead. You might find the answer before me, and I wanted to point out that I have seen a pretty complete set of wiring diagrams on this site somewhere. I also use linear B pots for volume and audio A for tone. Hey Steve, It might be better to try to answer any questions you have about the diagram that you have. Liner-tapered pots are used for tone control since they are designed to feed part of your signal to ground and need to have a linear taper in order to do that correctly with a capacitor in the path. So I then switched over the input and output wires on the volume posts to create drawing 1, This mod allowed independent volume control when both pickups are selected. Could be that they meant for it to be 1 vol.
The ground lead and the bare strands will be tied together as ground. Whatever, I'm going to use the 3 tapers and see how it turns out. This means that we measure all potentiometers and capacitors before installation, select them, and use them according to their values where they deliver the best possible result in combination with the pickups. If not, you should be able to e-mail them to find out. If you used a linear tapered pot for a volume control, you'd notice a point in the sweep that jumps pretty quickly and it would probably be annoying.
