An archive of new and old celebrity fakes from Vargas Fakes. I'm a of Natalie and have made my own fakes of her, but I really didn't even bother with hardcore fakes of Natalie. There's a billion other places you can spend your time. These images are an artistic expression. .
It was Annasofia Robb see below and I was instantly struck by how good the fake was and how it felt so distinct. Griever has a specific style, a specific atmosphere. I remember the first time I saw a Griever fake. Back in the early Spring of 2006 I randomly encountered an Emma Watson fake online that caught my attention. Yovo's skill was crafting realistic fakes of wonderfully unrealistic scenarios. I was truly blown away by the fakes, especially the work on Natalie Portman.
Maybe some of his fakes haven't aged well, but he was a visionary in his day. He also has a great eye for marrying headshots and bodyshots, creating some of the best hardcore fakes available. There are a lot of fakirs that have come and gone, but Yovo was the first, and one of the only, household names in 20 years of faking. Yovo was so prolific, so consistent, and so respected and admired that he's the only fakir whose work I've ever seen archived in large downloadable zip files on file sharing sites. They are completely fictitious, based in fantasy, and only to be used for your own personal enjoyment.
Two things are clear from this initial run: I made a lot of fakes in a very short amount of time and I was already gravitating towards doing series of fakes back then. It was really difficult to pick only a few fakes to represent his work. Yovo pretty much wrote the book on hardcore fakes of Natalie Portman, and I really didn't see the need to one-up that body of work. Then Yovo Fakes came along.
Way back before I started faking I remember seeing celebrity fakes online but no one fakir really stood out to me. And because he has a distinct style and because he can do both elegant soft core fakes and debauched hardcore fakes and everything in-between , Griever is the fakir whose work most reminds me of. Unless otherwise noted, the artwork here was created by Vargas Fakes. He is one of a kind. Yovo Fakes mainly did hardcore, but Yovo Fakes took the traditional hardcore fake to a completely new level. I learned a lot from his work.
If you see something here you find offensive, sorry. They're fake, and are not a statement on the celebrities in question. There were some very good fakirs around but to say a specific fakir back then had a unique style or unique body of work was a stretch. Every once in a while I see one of these pop up somewhere and I'm still amazed and humbled people repost these old Emma fakes. For the next candidate on my Fakir Mount Rushmore, I need to tell you about Griever.
Yovo Fakes is often imitated but never duplicated. . . . .
